Secondary Number App

Technical issues

  • When trying to make a call from the app, I get an error message "Please enable 'use VOIP' under Settings"

The error means that when trying to dial from the application, the system recognized that the user is located abroad of the country to which the primary number (SIM) on which the application is installed belongs, and that the user purchased a package that includes the option to use VOIP.

To activate VOIP mode you need to go to the main menu >> Settings >> Activate ‘use VOIP’.

If you are not located abroad, a VPN application may be activated on your device that simulates browsing the Internet from an IP address that belongs to another country.

  • When I dial from the app in VOIP mode, the app crashes

You probably have a HUAWEI device with Android 5 – Unfortunately, due to the limitation of this device model, it is not possible to make a VOIP call from the app.

  • When I am in an active call in the app in VOIP mode, and there is another call on hold on the main device, I am not heard in the active call

The use of the device’s microphone input is designed this way by the device manufacturer – for a GSM call, which is on hold on your device, there is a higher priority for using the microphone, than for sharing the microphone with VOIP applications.

  • I cannot download the app from the Google Play store. Can I get an installation (APK) file that is not through the store?

Downloading and installing the Num2 app is only available in the Google Play Store. We do not recommend downloading APKs for app install from other sources.

  • After activating VOIP mode, the calls are disconnected in the middle

Calls made in VOIP mode depend on the quality of the Internet line on which the service operates. In case of internet disconnections, or frequent transitions between different wireless networks, there may be poor call quality, and even call disconnection.

  • I do not receive incoming calls

You need to check if you have set up call reject or call forward always or for out of office hours: go to the SET screen and see if there is a general call rejection setting out of office setting.

    Or

In addition, check if the application has a “White List” mode enabled – a mode in which all incoming calls are blocked, except for calls from specific numbers. To cancel the setting, in order to receive calls from all numbers, switch to “Black list” mode:

  • How can I find the Num2 app on Google Play or App store?

The app name in the store is “Secondary number”. To find the app in the store, you can do the following searches: “num2”, “secnum” or “secondary number”.

You can also go to the following links:

    On Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cellact.secnum

    On the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/il/app/secnum/id1215632082

The link is the same in the Israeli store, and in stores of other countries where the app is located.

  • I am trying to purchase a Premium service in the App store, but the packages appear unavailable

In case an iPhone user sees in-store packages as unavailable means that the customer’s Apple account cannot make a payment due to a lack of authorization or a payment restriction.

There are a variety of reasons why the account may not make a payment (for example, the account with a child barring).

In this case, you need to arrange the account privileges with Apple.

  • When I open the app, an error message pops up "Num2 is trying to delete your contacts ..." What should I do?

When you use the application to make calls, Num2 creates a temporary contact on your device and deletes it at the end of each call. The error message you receive on your device is due to an operating system setting on some Xiaomi devices.

To allow the app to create and remove the temporary contact on your Xiaomi device, log in to Security Settings >> Permissions >> Permissions >> give permission to add and remove contacts to the Num2 app.

It is important to note that the Num2 application uses only the permission of contacts for the proper operation of the application. The app does not collect contact information from your device.

  • So far I have been using a Freemium renewable service package, and now the package has changed. Why?

After a trial period that allowed you to use the Freemium monthly renewable, we now present one-time or monthly renewable premium packages, which include up to 3,000 minutes of call and up to 1,000 SMS messages per month, which you can purchase in our store. We are now giving you two months of premium service use for free, and hope that at the end of the term you choose to continue using the Num2 app in the Premium program that is right for you. To view the existing packages, go to the app store in the menu >> Go to store.

  • I have not used the app for three months, and now the app is not working. What should I do?

The secondary number is randomly assigned by the app when registering, while you have 5 days of unlimited free trial to use the app.  After 5 days, it will not be possible to continue using the app’s service except by purchasing a service pack in the app store. The number that is assigned to the user at the time of registration is stored for 3 months, so if you purchase a package within 3 months from the installation, you will receive the same number. At the end of 3 months from app installation, the number returns to the free number pool, and if you purchase a service, you will be prompted to re-register and may be assigned another number. For users purchasing premium service (unlimited), the secondary number will be retained for the whole period of the service even if it is not actually used. However, if the Premium service period ends and the user does not renew it, the number will be returned to the free numbers pool in case of no use at the end of 3 months.

  • How can I grant permissions to the app after it has already been installed on my device?

For Android devices, you need to access the device settings >> Application manager >> select the Num2 app. Under Permissions, you can see which permissions have been granted for the app and which have not been approved.

For iPhone devices under Settings, you can scroll down to the list of applications, see the list of permissions in each application, or access each type of authorization separately and see which applications are using them – for example privacy, notifications and more. You can also reinstall the app to confirm permissions.

  • I have changed the SIM on my device to a different primary number, and now the app has stopped working. What should I do?

The secondary number in the app is “linked” to the primary number that was registered to the app. Therefore, if you change your SIM to different primary number, the application must be reinstalled. Please note: you will receive a different secondary number.

  • I do not receive SMS messages when the app is not open on the device

In some Huawei models (and some LG and Xiaomi devices), you need to add the Num2 app to the list of applications allowed to run in the background when the device activates a battery-saving mode, in order to receive notifications while the application is closed. While the device manufacturer automatically adds world-known apps (like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google Mail), other applets (including the Num2 app) need to be added manually. For Huawei devices go to Device Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Battery Manager >> Protected Applications. Find and add the additional number app. When finished, restart the device. For more info click here. For info about more device models see question ‘How to enable push notifications on various Android devices’.

Alternatively, on most sites you can also sign up by receiving a voice call or email instead of a text message.

In addition, we can suggest that you contact the site / service team from whom you have tried to receive text messages and ask them to resolve the issue. The site / service team will be able to contact Cellact technical support to assist with the sending of SMS messages.

  • I do not receive SMS messages for the app, although I can send messages and place calls.

    Please check the following settings:

    1) Confirm permission for the app

Text messages to the secondary number are passed as notification in the Data channel.

Possibly, when you installed the app, you did not give permission to receive notifications.

To check this, enter the device settings Application Manager >> Find the Num2 app >> go to permissions and verify that the permission has been granted.

    2) Verify that the “White mode” status is not defined in the application

White mode blocks incoming calls and messages, except for a closed list of specific numbers. Please make sure that this mode is not configured in the app.

Access the main menu in the application >> Settings >> Block numbers

Make sure the setting is “Black mode”. If the existing setting is “White mode”, change it to “Black mode”.

If the authorization is given but you still cannot receive SMS messages, please contact us at Num2@cellact.com

  • I downloaded the app but the service does not work

In order to specify the problem, please follow these steps:

    1. Make sure there is internet connection on your device.
    2. Make sure that all permissions are enabled, including access to contacts.
    3. If you have a device with two SIM cards (Dual SIM), make sure that the outgoing calls are made from the number with which you have registered for the Num2 app.
    4. If the problem still exists – you have incoming calls and messages but no outgoing calls and messages – please send us a screenshot via “Contact us” on your app, Also send us  the message that is displayed during the attempts to make a call / send a message.

  • I received an incoming call on my Android device and I see the secondary number as a caller instead of a real caller ID.

This can happen for several reasons:

    1. For proper use of the secondary number, it is important to ensure that there is internet on the device on which the app is installed.
    2. You should search your device’s phone book, and look for your secondary number added as a contact, and if found – delete it from the phonebook.
    3. If outgoing calls also appear to secondary number instead of the destination number, you probably did not allow the app to use the device’s phone book during installation. To check the permissions granted, and give required permissions to an app that has already been installed – see the FAQ “How do I authorize the add-on app after the app is already installed on the device?”
    4. In addition, in this case you should check the battery usage settings of the device, depending on the device model:
    • In some devices, you should switch from automatic to manual power, allowing the Num2 app to run without saving the battery.
    • On other devices, make sure that no power saving mode is off and that the background data is allowed.

If you have checked all of the above settings and have not found the problem, please contact us at Num2@cellact.com . Please check and send us the following info: Do SMS messages arrive to the app? Are SMS messages arrive the main device number on which the app is installed?

Answer: In order to find out and solve the problem, follow these steps:Make sure that the secondary number does not appear in your device’s contact list.In the device phonebook, search for a contact whose name starts with Dialing or Calling and if it is found, delete it from the phonebook. If Popup message appears asking permission to make a call to the secondary number, do the following:

    • On Android devices, verify that the application’s permissions have been approved.
    • On IPhone devices, that is a built in pop-up message. The call should arrive at the target number correctly.

If you purchased Premium service, make sure that the service has been updated in the application and that you are able to dial.

  • More technical questions

  • Is it possible to transfer the secondary number between two prime numbers belonging to different countries?

The prime numbers between which a secondary number is transferred, must belong to the same group of countries:

    • for a prime number (SIM) belonging to Israel, the Netherlands, the UK or the US – you can transfer to another prime number belonging to the same country only.
    • for a main number belonging to the other European countries where the Num2 service is available – the secondary number can be transferred to any of the countries in the group (for example from a French main number can be transferred to a Belgian main number).

  • After activating VOIP mode, I still see outgoing calls to the secondary number in the device's call log

In VOIP mode, the incoming calls to the app will be routed via the VOIP channel while outgoing calls will continue to go through the device dialer of the primary number, if the subscriber is in the country to which the primary number (SIM) belongs, and as long as it has proper reception. Therefore, the user will see in the call log of the device calls dialed from the device to the secondary number.

If the subscriber leaves the country, the incoming and outgoing calls will go through the VOIP channel.

  • Will the secondary number in the app remain with me indefinitely?

The number assigned by the app will remain unchanged during the 5-day trial period and will remain assigned for a limited period after the trial ends. If a user has not purchased a premium service during the trial period (5 days) or during this limited period – the secondary number will be returned to the pool of free numbers, and if a user decides to purchase the service, they will receive a different number.

If a user has purchased a Premium service (unlimited service), the secondary number will remain with him throughout the purchased usage period, even if the application has not been used.

If a user has ported a number from another network to the Num2 app – the number will remain with him as long as the app is active, and the user will be able to port the number to another operator network at any time. If there has been no active use of the Num2 app (there was no use of the service, and / or an active premium package in the app) for 6 months, the company will be entitled to return the number via porting it to its original operator network.

  • I have set up a call forward in the app. Does the call time with the forward number is considered call time of the Num2?

Since when the call is forwarded from the application, the system completes a call to the forward target, call minutes are considered as call minutes of the Num2 app.

  • How can I set two or more secondary numbers on the app?

You can define more than one secondary number on the app by installing the Cellact mobile manager app:

    1) Search the Google Play app on the Cellactor app (the app is available today for Android users only) and install it on your device.

    2)  In the Externals tab, purchase a shared number using Paypal (which will be used as your second Num2). Buying a shared number is a monthly recurring fee.

    3)  Add your secondary number from the Num2 app as an extension under the shared number.

    4) In the Mobile manager app, you can set an “alias” for your shared number – so you can tell which number received the call

    5) In the Num2 app, you can choose which number to use to make outgoing calls. Incoming calls to both numbers will be accepted on your device.

  • Can I use the secondary number only for external apps like WhatsApp and Telegram? Is this service free of charge?

  • Is there a limit on calls or SMS after purchasing Premium service?

In outgoing calls from the Num2 app uses the dialer of the device on which the application is installed, so if the main line of the device is limited for number of minutes, it will also affect the calls made through the app.

The app also uses the DATA of the main line, and depends on the user’s Internet when establishing a call or receiving or sending messages.

In Premium packages, the user is given an extended quota of call minutes and SMS messages for use during a month of service.

You can re-subscribe to the app and get another random number.

To maintain the secondary number regardless of its use, we recommend that you purchase a premium service (unlimited service). You can find a renewable package at Paypal’s store.

  • How can I ensure that the secondary number I got is not going to change to another number?

The secondary number assigned by the app will remain unchanged during the 5-day trial, and will stay reserved for a limited period after the trial ends If a user has not purchased a Premium service during the trial period (5 days) or during this limited period – the secondary number will be returned to the free number pool and if a user decides to purchase the service, he will receive another number.

If a user purchases a Premium service (unlimited service), the secondary number will remain with him for the duration of the purchased use period, even if they doesn’t use the app.

You can easily continue to use the Num2 service abroad the country to which the main number belongs, by activating VOIP mode, which works upon a DATA channel – Wi-Fi or Internet of an foreign SIM card.

To activate VOIP mode you must first purchase a service pack in the app store. After purchasing, the user must go to the main menu >> Settings >> Use VOIP.

Please note that the packages that enable VOIP mode are standard monthly packages – a one-time monthly package or a renewable monthly package. While limited packages that include 500 minutes of call / SMS or a Change Number package do not include a VOIP mode option.

Also, receiving and making calls from the Num2 for users without a package that includes the use of VOIP, will only be possible if there is a package of calls abroad on the main number on which the application is installed, without a password. Proper call service depends on the roaming conditions of the local network.

  • I purchased a renewed subscription service and replaced my mobile device. How do I transfer the subscription service between the two devices?

If you have replaced a device but have not changed the primary phone number (SIM), all you must do is transfer the existing SIM from an old device to a new one, install the Num2 application, and activate it. The system remembers the association of the secondary number with the primary number (SIM), and will show you your number, and your existing package.

If you want to change the main phone number (SIM) on which the Num2 app is installed, you can use the account transfer option under Main menu >> Account >> Transfer account.

This option will be available to users with an active Premium package.

The prime numbers between which a secondary number is transferred, must belong to the same group of countries:

o for a prime number (SIM) belonging to Israel, the Netherlands, the UK, or the US – you can transfer to another prime number belonging to the same country only.

o for a main number belonging to the other European countries where the Num2 service is available – the secondary number can be transferred to any of the countries in the group (for example from a French main number can be transferred to a Belgian main number).

The transfer of the secondary number should be applied from the old device. The action activates a wizard, which accompanies the user until the transfer is complete.

    Account transfer steps:

    • Select an account to manage the package

    – In case of using the same Google or Apple account on both devices, old and new, a subscription package will go directly to the new device.

    – In case of using the same PayPal account, it is necessary to cancel a subscription plan and create it again on the new device.

    – In case of switching from Android to iOS and vice versa, it is necessary to cancel a subscription plan in the previous store.

    • Authentication of the new primary number

Upon entering a new prime number in the wizard, we will send a verification code to the new number, which the user will be prompted to enter in the wizard.

If, before transferring an account, a registration has already been made for the Num2 in the new device, and a new secondary number has been received, the wizard will instruct you to remove it, using an account deletion action, to transfer the existing secondary number to it.

    • After completing the transfer

The subscriber will see the balance of calls and SMS he had before the transfer.

If the user cancels a subscription service, at the end of the balance / period, he must enter the store and purchase a new package / subscription.

  • Does making calls from the Num2 app cost money?

It depends on the service package of the primary phone number with its mobile operator:  if a subscriber has an all Inclusive program, there is no additional cost for the calls. The Num2 app uses the minutes of the subscriber’s primary number, so the two numbers share the same pricing plan with the operator. However, even if the operator bills the subscriber per minute, there is no additional payment for the call beyond the payment to the cellular operator.

  • Privacy

  • Someone else has signed up for WhatsApp or another service with the secondary number that used to belong to me.

The secondary number is given temporarily to the user, and is in his possession as long as there is an active paid program in the app.

In case of cancellation of a plan or end of a plan period, the secondary number enters a 90-day freeze period, during which a plan can be purchased, and the service renewed.

At the end of the 90-day freeze, the secondary number is released to the available numbers pool and can be assigned to another user.

A few days before the end of the program period, the user receives a notification of an expected service termination, in which we instruct to cancel registration for any service or social network, such as WhatsApp, where he registered using the secondary number.

If the number you used in the past has already been released and assigned to another user, and is active in the service – we cannot cancel it.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

The subscriber can control this by going to call settings and turning off the call forward. (Not all mobile operators allow editing those settings).

  • How do you record the app usage details? Can one link the secondary number to me and my private number?

The records of app usage is maintained internally at Cellact ltd. With regard to your network operator, the calls are made between the primary and the secondary numbers, which is also what will appear on your invoice. The numbers associated with the service are owned by Cellact ltd and are loaned to users unless the user port a number that he owns to Cellact Communications network, and makes it an secondary number. If your secondary number is tagged with registration software such as True Caller it can be associated with the number owner according to the name of the registrant in the phone book.Given a judge’s order, Cellact Communications is committed to providing full details of the calls made via the Num2 app.

    Tags: #Locate #link #associate #relate #privacy #retain details #record #data
  • Can the secondary number be somehow traced? Can one associate the secondary number with the primary number of the device?

The app protects the privacy of your primary number:

    1. The recipient of the call sees an incoming call from the secondary number and not your private number.
    2. When dialing the secondary number, one also does not see the primary number.
    3. The cellular operator on the network where the primary number is located does not see the numbers you dialed via Num2 or the numbers that called Num2; instead, your secondary number appears as the caller or the called number.

    However, note that:

    1. If you have voicemail on a primary number, incoming calls to the application will be forwarded to this voicemail in case of no answer, phone busy or rejecting a call. There is an option to set up an app-specific voicemail.
    2. Given a judge’s order, Cellact Communications is committed to providing full details of the calls made via the Num2 app.
    3. If your secondary number is tagged with registration software such as True Caller, the secondary number can be assigned to the owner of the number according to the name of the registrant in the phone book.

  • Do calls from the Num2 appear in the device call log?

In the device log, you will see incoming and outgoing calls; the calls are registered with the secondary number, not the original caller or the number dialed.

This is in accordance with Google Play’s requirement that an app will not be able to make changes to call history on Android devices, as there is no change to IPhone devices.

The number that appears in the call log is the Secondary number defined in the app. The original caller or dialed number will not be exposed and will not appear in a call log.

For users who have purchased a package that includes calls in VOIP mode, calls made after activating VOIP mode will not appear in the device call log.
